Photo Gallery du Felber

Click to view Dumb Spring Break '08: Catskills. You'll be glad you did.

dumbbreak

I wrote, conceived and took all the pics for this photo gallery less than a week ago. It was a blast for this comedy history groupie to be "forced" to visit famous Catskills landmarks. Those people you see above were strangers I ran into while exploring who kindly posed for me. They drove a Mercedes with MD plates and the guy said his father had worked at Grossinger's Resorts in the 50's. There was a pack of other guys there taking pictures with fancy cameras too. On a freezing cold day, tons of youngish upscale people flocking to these ruined resorts is pretty impressive -- and perhaps an underexploited phenomena. Suddenly I have the urge to blow up my house and then sell hot chocolates to the masses that will surely show up for a peek.

Ya so -- check it out!

Thanks Interpals,

Susie

Here I Am!
Shall I rock you like a hurricane?

I needed to take a pic of myself for work, and as I work from home, and the dog can't work the camera, hello bathroom mirror. The silent scream motif? More apropos than y'all know.

Please go now and visit me at my awesome blog/vlog on Babble.com called TODDLER TUBE, then download or subscribe in iTunes to LIAR NEWS at comedy365.co.uk to hear ME doing many different characters in this brand new funny funny Brit podcast by talented scamp Richard Cray and Brian Luff. And then remember that most every waking hour of the day I am doing massive amounts of writing and such for truTV.com. Stay tuned for new blog there too.

I would tell you more, but frankly, I've no time. Big kisses and not only am I not dead, I am feeling hopeful that I may get to leave the house someday.

xoxo,

Susie

Introducing... Me & My Spawn

Babble is the world's coolest parenting magazine ever. It just happens to be online. So much the better. Print magazines? Not so good with the moving pictures and new content daily, people.

My baby and I will have itty bitty videos up M-F on Babble.com's newly-hatched vlog blog Toddler Tube.

Why should you visit Toddler Tube now and everyday 1000X/day? Here, let me answer some of your imaginary questions:

Q: I have a baby and I think my baby is cuter than your baby, so why should I watch your baby?

A: Well, I know the hormones are powerful, but I'm sorry to say you are incorrect. My baby is cuter than your baby. Really. It's been proven in a lab. You can't argue with science.

Q: I don't have a baby and I don't like babies and I've no interest in babies and my eyes glaze over when I hear about babies.

A: Well, my videos and commentary will not be dull nor will they be serious. They will be mercifully short and quite entertaining. Also, I was once you, so although I'm now babycrazy, I feel you, people who are not crazy about babies. If you find you are still not entertained, return the unused portion for a full refund.

Q: Refund??? I have to pay to view this?

A: Of course not. That was a joke. The site is 100% free.

Q: OK, so I just viewed Toddler Tube and it's so amazing I want to pay you lots and lots of money. Maybe I should take out a second mortgage on my home to do so?

A: Actually, if you are a private citizen, please refrain from sending us all your money. I have a great job writing and stuff for truTV.com, which features totally insane real-life videos that are so far from babydom you'll get whiplash. Anywho, if you are a huge corporation who would like to pay us a truckload of money to endorse something, have your people call my baby -- here's a blog post that contains a handy list of things Hugo baby will and will not endorse.

Q: Your profile pic on Babble is so cool. Who took it?

A: Actually, I took it, via the bathroom mirror last year when Hugo was infantastic. Life was really hard back then. But this picture might fool you into thinking I was and am ultra cool.

Q: Wow, you're just so amazing. Everything you do is awesome. Can I lick you?

A: Thank you imaginary questioner, you're OK in my book. Wait, lick me? What the--

Q: Nothing.

In conclusion, bite-sized baby video and joy awaits you on Toddler Tube!

Picture = 1,000 words

I made the pic you see here for my Facebook group, Wish Obama Had a Vagina! (but I still might vote for him...).

Group Description:
Are you a woman (or a menimist) who'd be ultra psyched to have a woman President but you aren't sure Clinton is the best candidate? Do you worry that if you vote for Obama you might be selling your sisters down the road? Do you feel like none of the candidates are talking about women's issues so you're screwed any which way? Then this group is for you!

My Position Now:

Barring any pictures of Obama throttling a peck of puppies coming out before now and Super Tomorrow, I am voting for Obama.

My reasoning is very different from my esteemed brother's:

1. I think we need someone other than a Bush or a Clinton.

2. I don't think Hillary can win against McCain. To be honest, in that race, I might go McCain.*

3. While I would love a woman president, she's said nothing that speaks to me as a woman, mother, sister, wife. Maybe she can't, for fear of being -- gasp! -- a woman. But with no proof, I've no reason to think she'd improve our lot. In fact, just like in the Primaries, she might need to put her female agenda on ice. American women are so screwed. We've no paid maternity leave, no flex work options/incentives for business to give us them, or equal pay -- an issue I am passionate about and one I wrote about here.
At the very least, an Obama/McCain race would elevate the dialogue.
SO LET'S GET IT ON! OBAMA - OBAMA -OBAMA! Hey ho -- let's GO!

felber says: GOBAMA!

*My secret: Until this election, I was a life-long Independent. Or, more like, a Democrat-loathing liberal. So I've never voted in a primary. I changed my affiliation to vote in this one. But, I didn't know that unlike my old voting grounds (NY), in New Jersey, unaffiliateds can vote. And why didn't I know this? Because I'm an idiot.

Scrabubabe?

On Scrabble's offical website, there is an image that perplexes me:

I would think babies and Scrabble don't mix.

Babies...

...can't spell.

...prone to choking on/flinging letters.

...don't appreciate you concentrating on anything but them.

It says TIPS, but sadly, there are no tips on how to get your baby to enjoy Scrabble!

But the baby is slightly see-through, so perhaps it is a ghost baby. A ghost baby from another dimension. A ghost baby from another dimension who simply docks its knowledge portal to your forehead, wet-wiring the Scrabble dictionary to your cerebellum as seen here:

Data transfer in progress.

Then, the ghost baby smiles and claps its hands as you slay your opponents with words like KA, ES and XU.

OK, that makes sense.

G'night.

1..31.08 UPDATE: I think I've found the babies & Scrabble connection. It's like the Rainbow Connection, but sexier. It's writer/Comedian Jen Dzuria looking Scrabblicious in these stunning photos by Bill Waldman.

I think it's pretty clear, playing Scrabble in this manner, would make Scrabble babies.

Yer welcome.

Yesterday

Gawker linked to me (here) and, not surprisingly, I got a lotta new visitors. They even made this pretty little ad thingy:
gawker_mug_ad

Anywho, if you're new here, welcome. What you should know is that I'm awesome (obviously) and you should check out every site in my sidebar as they are awesome too. And here I will throw a bone to my dayjob as the newly-hatched site still has a video on it I made that stars my dog and baby. And that's worth the price of admission alone. No blog anymore/yet but stay tuned Felber fans -- lots of cool stuff TK.

9/11: If Only We Had Listened to the Mugs

Struck by their eerily prophetic nature, I bought these in downtown Manhattan the week after 9.11.2001.

Boo England!

My pal Todd was one of a few writers for RADAR who recently found their stuff was blatantly plagiarised by the Sunday Times of London. Here's an article about the apology TK in today's Guardian. And Todd tells you the whole story here in a blog post called "Imitation is the Sincerest Form of Flattery."

My fave part is how they took lines and UK'd them up -- like merely changing cell phone to mobile-phone. And somehow they are less funny after having been put through the Britalizer. The whole business is morally wrong, sure, but it's also thrillingly stupid!

If those tea-drinking rapscallions think they can steal our amusing listicles, they've got another thing coming! And that other thing? Well, as I happen to live with a tea-drinking rapscallion, I'd best keep mum, er, I mean, mah trap shut.

Speaking of New Hampshire...

I can't hear about New Hampshire without thinking of my favorite NH author who is also my favorite NH Representative who also writes my very favorite NH blog.

WARNING: Her blog will make you want to move to NH. But don't be fooled by the pretty picture of her you see here -- it was actually -40 below when that was taken. And by actually, I mean not actually.
