New Year, Same Old Me

Last week my pic was in the Daily News here as part of a story on "Heebsters" in New York City. I've been too busy to brag about this out of the blue event to anyone other than my family and 400+ of my closest online friends.

Hooray, hurrah!

But really, it's amazing how much one does, and how little relation what you do has to the press you get. But still, it's press, and you just learn to take the sun when it shines on ya.

Speaking of more sun to come, Friday I think I'm doing a spot on an excellent morning radio program. Stay tuned for the 411.

And soon, very soon, a barrage of dates will fly at ya about two fabulous shows on the TV contraption that will feature me. Stay tuned!

Got to run. And by "run" I mean have a sip of wine, walk a ratty little dog named Stan and go to bed.

Happy New Year to all my mishpucha. Here's to a sweet, healthy and downright sexy 5769, why not? Ya, Sexy New Year to you.

My Day, Made

So I'm performing again, after a self and then life-imposed slow down. But now I'm back on TV, soon to be on two shows on different nets and there's a small possibility I might be doing some amazingly exciting comedy event on the road. Details to come, if they come.

However, I sometimes feel rusty. Work is awesome but I simply don't have the time to do those excellent but grimy unpaid shows you should do to keep oneself sharp.

Anywho, just as I was thinking I'm a rusty ol' sow, I found this by accident. It's an interview with Chris Hampton, amazingly talented creator and curator of the long-running, amazingly awesome (yet dearly departed) WYSIWYG talent show. Here's the part that made my ego sing:

BH: Now that WYSIWYG is entering its fourth year, I imagine you’ve seen a lot of talented people perform. Do you have any particular favorites?

CH: Hmm. Maybe Susie Felber’s story from a show about summer camp experiences. Her mother was one of those touchy-feely moms who think ALL children are special — so she innocently and cluelessly signed Susie up for a camp for “special” children. But it’s REALLY hard to pick just one!
Yes, this made me very happy. Thanks Chris, Google and even mom who, in the 70's, thought "special" meant "gifted."

My friend Bob has a new book out -- again! It's gotten stunning reviews. Here's a video featuring Bob himself, currently being shown on TV.

My mother, the romance author, sent me a pic today, snapped by her own camera, in her own kitchen, with a message. Both below.

Subject: Not a holy face...

But this russet potato is meant for someone you love!

Wisht you wuz here.

Yes, it's a highly romantic tater! Carbo-loading meets carbo-loving.

Thanks for the mash note, mom. (bad pun very much intended)

I hope you all in Internet land share it with someone you love, too.

Very Hard At Work

No time for personal blogging, other than the above animation of awesomeness, of course.

Find me here. I'm the chick they call Susie who also looks like me because she is me.

She May Not Have Time for a Social Life Outside of Facebook, Life May Be Overly Dramatic But the Trains Are Sure As Heck Running On Time and That's Something Now, Isn't It?

Been hard at work doing fun stuff. That sounds vague, but more info once I'm on a roll and have clips to share.

You can see some of my work blogging here, I'm taping for that TV thingy mahoob again in September and also, if you're interested in my sprog, we're just wrapping up this little blog here.

I've a lot going on in my life but nothing I can talk about that isn't plain too personal for the WWW. So I guess I'll just get sharey with my dog. He's cool with it.

Can You Digg It?

If you Digg, please consider giving one to this listicle I just pubished on the dumb blog.

The piece is called, "10 Things The New York Times Can Do to Prevent People Climbing Their Building."

Here's the link to it on Digg.

Thank ye!

Psst!

I'm over here.

And here too.

A lot of other exciting writing and performing going on in Susieland, but what's above is fresh and accessible. If I'd time to tell you the other stuff, no doubt I would.

Instead, you'll hafta settle for this stunning pic I took of a Scarlet Ibis at the Central Park Zoo.

And really, I do take an amazing Scarlet Ibis photo.

My
Rufous-vented Chachalaca snaps aren't half bad neither.

OK, I made that up. I don't have any
Rufous-vented Chachalaca photos. I just wanted to find a way to insert an obscure bird of Trinidad into my blog. My apologies.

Gotta run. Ciao for now.

Or as the Rufous-vented Chachalaca says, "ka-ka-rooki-rooki-ka"!

Me & Ted Koppel & Elvis & Clinton & More

Me and Ted on the same screen. My daddy (a huge Nightline fan) woulda gotten a huge kick out of this.

Thanks to my brother, I own a whimsical ashtray with the above Nixon/Elvis image on it.

"Are you making a pass at me Mr. President?"

Look at me, I look awesome. Huge foreheads are hot!

And although I was suffering from pink eye and looked a tad freakish at times, as you can see, Tom Cruise thought I was hilarious...

BREAKING FELBER NEWS!

I will be on TV this weekend, being very funny.

My episode of "Not Just Another Cable News Show" is called "Dumb Ideas" and it airs this weekend on CNN-Headline News. Here's when to catch it:

Saturday 7pm
Saturday 9pm
Saturday midnight
Sunday 5am
Sunday 7pm
Sunday 9pm
Sunday midnight
Monday 5am

Wait, comedy on a news channel? Indeed it is a delightful melange... here's what the show is about...

NOT JUST ANOTHER CABLE NEWS SHOW: This new series takes a lighthearted look back at famous – and infamous – stories that made the news, including some of the most unforgettable political blunders of our time.

Note: I am told that some cable outlets cut off the last block of the show for a local news cut-in. That does not happen at midnight or 5am. Got DVR? Awesome.

Note 2: I got this opportunity via a brilliant writer/comedian/producer who is an old comedy crony of mine. He didn't know about my dayjob, but since CNN-HNN is a sister company and I could help promo my job's site, I went for it. The "Dumb" theme tie-in with the cool new dumb dayjob blog was just a lucky coincidence.

Sibling Week In Review

I have two older brothers. This weekend...

  • My L.A. brother asked if I had email access where I was at that moment (I was in the Catskills on a lake beach) as he wanted me to email him to remind him of the conversation we were having at that moment concerning a question I had for his TV agent as he was, in his words, "...on Bluetooth and heading to the edit bay for the entire weekend."

  • My NYC brother asked me, for the second year in a row, to please get him spoons for his upcoming birthday (on 6/3 he'll be 42) as, in his words, "I dropped my last readily accesible [sic] spoon behind the oven-so 2 of 'em 1, tea, 1 table, ordinary, NOT a set or anything but plain...since metal is better than plastic."

I'm Not Dead Yet!

The inactivity on this blog is merely a symptom of my massive activity elsewheres. Sorry to anyone who was worried, sent flowers, etc.

You can find me here on this brand new super exciting blog called, Dumb As A Blog.

I'm not loving my bizarre-smooshy face icon (you'll see) but I'm particularly proud of my recent coverage of a guy who allegedly ripped the head off a giant ant and my amusing as heck followup interview today with an author who is also a real NH legislator. And if you only wanted to read posts by me, you could be sneaky and use this link. But you'd miss a lot.

As for my personal life, I hardly have time for one, but some of it can be seen here on my Toddler Tube vlog/blog on the excellent site, babble.com.

Also, I am going to be on TV again soon being funny. Yay! Details when I know them.

What else? Lots, but it's after 10:30P and I've miles to go before I sleep. I've sat so long today my rump has turned to jelly, mind too.

Nighty night!

Photo Gallery du Felber

Click to view Dumb Spring Break '08: Catskills. You'll be glad you did.

dumbbreak

I wrote, conceived and took all the pics for this photo gallery less than a week ago. It was a blast for this comedy history groupie to be "forced" to visit famous Catskills landmarks. Those people you see above were strangers I ran into while exploring who kindly posed for me. They drove a Mercedes with MD plates and the guy said his father had worked at Grossinger's Resorts in the 50's. There was a pack of other guys there taking pictures with fancy cameras too. On a freezing cold day, tons of youngish upscale people flocking to these ruined resorts is pretty impressive -- and perhaps an underexploited phenomena. Suddenly I have the urge to blow up my house and then sell hot chocolates to the masses that will surely show up for a peek.

Ya so -- check it out!

Thanks Interpals,

Susie
